Inauguration of "Ecological Commission" of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church will be held on August 6th 2.30 PM at Piravom. H.B Catholicose Dr. Baselios Thomas I will preside over the function. Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Mullakkara Rathnakaran will inaugurate the functioning of the commission. Metropolitans of the Holy Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church and prominent personalities will be present for the function. We request all of you to be present there and be part of it.

DHUKRONO OF ST.THOMAS OBSERVED IN MUSCAT
MUSCAT: Dukrono of St.Thomas, the Apostle of India,observed with fervor in St.Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Parish, Muscat. Rev.Fr.Alias Ipe, the Vicar celebrated Holy Qurbana followed by special intercessory prayers with incense. In his perunal message, Rev.Alias Ipe emphasized the importance of Saints and the need of intercessory prayers explicitly showing elegant examples from the Word of God and substantiated by the Syriac Tradition. " St.Thomas was the embodiment of all Godly virtues. He put in to practice what he learnt from his Lord and the Good tidings. By preaching the Good news, he could give birth to thousands of Christ-followers across the globe irrespective of class,caste and color. His suffereings, determination,way of life and even his matyrdom reveals how he was firmly pinned with Jesus Christ, his Master".
Hundreds of faithful from far and wide attended the perunal. Nercha was distributed to all present.

Kurian, St. Peter's Knanaya Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew - St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr. George C Varghese - St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr. Abraham P George - Ahmadi Indian Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr. Thomas Varghese - Marthoma Church, Kuwait, Rev. Fr. Binju Varghese, St. Peter's CSI Church. The Members, Sunday School students and teachers of St. George Universal Syrian Orthodox Church bid a tearful farewell to their beloved Sunday School Headmaster. Scores of peoples from different Christian denominations, and several Malayalee and Indian association members joined the prayer and paid their homage.

CWME Meeting Concludes in Edinburgh |

Edinburgh: The Meeting of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) of the World Council of Churches concluded today here in Edinburgh. The meeting decided to hold a Mission Conference in 2012 prior to the Assembly of WCC to be held in Busan, Korea in 2013. The Commission will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the integration of the WCC with the International Missionary Council (IMC) which took place in 1963 in New Delhi. This event will be held in Ghana in March, 2011. The meeting of the Commission was also attended by Dr. Walter Altmann, the moderator of the Central Committee of the WCC and guests from the Church of Scotland. The meeting was also an opportunity to bid farewell to Dr. Jacques Matthey who is due to retire from the staff of WCC. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese as moderator of the Commission chaired the meeting.
