We celebrated the Feast of St. Mary

The Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven, Mother of the Church, Mama Mary. We have different titles for her but one that stands out among all is Mary Mother of God or, in Greek, Theotokos, “God bearer.” She was entrusted with God’s only begotten Son. She was with Him through joys and pains. She molded Jesus’ childhood. She accepted the great responsibility given by God without hesitation. Without a doubt, Mary is full of grace, chosen among us to be a model of faith.

In the fi rst reading from the book of Sirach, we are invited to be like Mary, “Come to me, you who desire me, and eat your fi ll of my produce.” We must not waver in the invitation of God to what is right and to will for what We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary is right. The life of Mary showed how she relied so much on God’s

providence especially in the most proper times.

The Gospel of Luke presents the momentous event in the life of Mary, where the Angel Gabriel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive and bear a Son, and you shall call him by the name of Jesus.” She embraced her role even through diffi cult times because she knew that God was there by her side. As we celebrate her great example and courage to have faith with God, let each one of us remember how trust and obedience can lead us to our own betterment. Sometimes, we always want to be in control of our lives but given the many choices we have, we sometimes tend to choose wrongly or become indecisive.

Today we are challenged to seek out the best option to show our commitment and trust in God, so that like Mary, we too can entrust ourselves to God and let Him lead us to a life of meaning and grace.
