Bahrain St. Peter's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church conducted 'Idavaka Sangamam' 2011

 

Bahrain St. Peter’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church conducted ‘Idavaka Sangamam’ on Friday, 11th November 2011, 5.30 pm onwards at Indian School Jashanmal Auditorium. Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan Head of Marthoma Church was the chief Guest and  Ms. Amal Al-Bofasa from the Ministry of Social Development, Mr. Abraham John, Hon. Chairman of The Indian School, Mr. Soman Baby, Managing Editor of Daily Tribune newspaper and Vicars of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Bahrain C.S.I Parish, Bahrain Marthoma, St. Paul’s Marthoma churches and Chev. Thomas Abraham were the Guest of Honours .

 

The programme started with a procession and the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honours were received by the traditional chendamelam  The public meeting was presided over by the Church Vicar Fr. Thomas Nediyapalackal and the Secretary Mr. Jaison Kavumkalath welcomed the guests.  The Chief Guest Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan inaugurated the meeting by lighting the traditional lamp, joined along with Ms. Amal Al Bofasa, The Church Vicar Fr. Thomas Nediyapalackal and Mr. Soman Baby. The new Church Directory was also released by Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan, handing over a copy to the Ministry Representative Ms. Amal Al Bofasa.  Felicitaion speeches were delivered by the Chief Guest and all Guest of Honours.  The Church felicitated the managing committee members of yesteryears, who are still in Bahrain, since the Church’s inception in 1978.  The convenor of the programme and Vice President Mr. Shaj Babu proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Variety of cultural programmes were presented by the members of Church and the programme ended with a sumptous buffet dinner to all.
